This fierce piece is from the exhibition Ikoner - an exhibition about the right to exist with the photographer Emma Svensson.
It is said that you can judge a society's level of cultivation by how it treats some of its most vulnerable. What they have in common, just like everyone else, is that among the worst things we can suffer is isolation. To not be included in the community, to be left out, is fatal for the herd creature man. Since time immemorial, that group has been constantly neglected, excluded and made invisible; those born with Down's Syndrome. In our age of fetal diagnosis, the prevailing trend is for them not to be born at all.
Here we see Emma Svensson's black and white portrait of Niklas from the TV program Glada Hudik.
