Wasteland with Elephant Poster

Nick Brandt, one of the most popular photographers, has exhibited at Fotografiska three times. In 2011, On This Earth, A Shadow Falls was showcased; in 2015, the sequel On This Earth, A Shadow Falls, Across The Ravaged Land was shown; and in 2016, his new project Inherit the Dust was exhibited.

Brandt’s work is exceptionally powerful and in a class of its own when it comes to portraying animals in their natural habitats. His sepia-toned photographs are backed by immense patience and meticulous planning, resulting in stunning images that blend documentation with artistic brilliance. It’s no surprise that Nick Brandt’s posters have topped the charts since his first exhibition.

What sets Inherit the Dust apart from his previous projects is that the images depict places where civilization has taken over nature. In this photograph, we see a print of one of the mighty elephants that once roamed the land, now replaced by a landfill stretching as far as the eye can see.
