Alessandra Sanguinetti uses contrast to reveal the life beneath the surface, the life we don’t always see. To do this, she must establish a sense of intimacy with her subjects. In Tokyo, an immense city of formidable reserve and formality, this is no a simple task, but it is the only way to get at the mystery that captivates her imagination: what we reveal and what we keep hidden.
